PlansXpress update - some clever new features and improvements!

PlansXpress was already great - and we've just made it even better! Read on to find out what's in the very latest version of this unique CAD software. If you own PlansXpress and have an active Support & Updates package, you will be able to download the new software as soon as it is available. Otherwise it can be renewed in a matter of minutes! Don't have PlansXpress? Watch a short 3-minute video here by HBXL founder Adrian and find out how to create a home extension - easily! That will whet your appetite!

New Sectional Symbols for Compatibility with EX Part L Specs

200+ in total covering:

  • Attic ceilings with 350mm insulation
  • Attic floors with 350mm insulation
  • Walls & footings with 125mm & 150mm cavities

New Drawing Tools

  • 3 point arc – you can now draw an arc by clicking on 3 points along the arc – which is much easier than the current way of selecting the middle of a circle and then the start and end point of the arc @ a distance from the centre
  • Multiline – you can set up styles of multiple lines to draw at once varying the distance between lines, line thickness & colour i.e.:

  • Cloud - You can draw revision clouds…

  • Control Point – Control points allow you to easily rotate symbols once entered onto a drawing.  Once you’ve imported your symbol you get little pink arrows to click on to rotate it as below.

  • DWG/DXF Insert Button – now you can treat the DWG file as a symbol on your drawing, change the colours of all the items in the drawing to a grey (for example) to make it easy to trace, hide items by selecting them or by layer etc.  You get snap points to trace over. Your layers dialog won't be full of the layers of the drawing.  It won't slow your software by having it on your drawing – now that's a great improvement!

Gradient Fill

This is now an option on solid fill to give 2 colours to produce a gradient fill.

New Construction Line Buttons for:

·       Drawing a construction line perpendicular to 2 points that you click on
·       Drawing a construction line as a tangent of a circle or arc
·       Drawing a Circle as a construction line
·       Offsetting an existing construction line by a set amount to draw a new one.

New Modification Button

·       Blend – to blend a mixture of arcs & lines together.

Graphics Driver

There is a new option in the ‘Display’ dialog for selecting a graphics driver as ‘OpenGL ES 2.0’ which allows hardware acceleration to help the software to render.  If a computer supports it I’m told it gives you a good speed increase.
